HTM 01-05 states that washer disinfectors must pass a soil test at least once per quarter. This test is designed to simulate the soiling that naturally occurs during treatment. Add water, replace lid and shake vigorously for an even consistency. Leave to stand for 10 minutes, shake again, then apply to the test load including the tray. Coated items must be left to dry for between 30 minutes and 2 hours, make sure you record the drying time. Process through a disinfection cycle then check either visually or checmically for residual soil. If there is any soil remaining after processiing, the cycle has failed. Remember to record results in your log book(s).
